How long has Camp Exposure International been running programs for teens?

We have been around over ten years and, during this time we have had many thousands of students join us. We have a great reputation – in fact, seven out of ten students join us because they know someone, or have talked with someone who has done one of our program. Each year over 500 teens join us from all over the country for both Camp Exposure and Allen Entrepreneurial Institute. During the remainder of the year, we operate our academic, college-level entrepreneurial program for college students and high school students.

What about safety?

Safety is paramount and comes first in everything that we do. Our program is adventurous, so there is an element of risk in some of the activities that we do. However, when you are aware of the risk, you can better control it and in many cases, use it in your favor as many learn when they are slightly outside of their comfort zone. Risk management is a key part of operating our programs and at Camp Exposure we are constantly reviewing and fine tuning our programs. For more information about safety, please visit our website at www.campexposureinternational.com

How many campers participate and how do you divide up the ages?

Can you provide references for Camp Exposure international alumni?

While we guard our parents’ privacy, 95% of them volunteer to act as references for new, interested parents and campers. Upon request, we will gladly put you in touch with a couple of past participants. Please contact us to request references, and also read through the Testimonials pages of our website for comments written about our programs by past students and their parents.

Is it common to come to Camp Exposure International more than one summer?

Broadly, over a quarter of out students return each year, and our record for a single student returning to date is five summers (and counting!) Camp Exposure offers programs that not only span the globe but also range in focus.

Are boys and girls part of the same team?

Yes, life is coed and so is Camp Exposure. We always aim to have a good mix of boys and girls together, and this goes for our staff as well. Boy and girls live in different accommodations and bathroom facilities are separate too. Privacy is thus maintained.

What is the Camp Exposure Forum?

A unique and fundamental element of all programs is the Camp Exposure Forum. Held at intervals throughout the trip, the forum is designed to complement the learning that takes place through the everyday interaction and group activities. Campers have the opportunity to participate in– and lead-discussions on topics like personal responsibility, values, integrity, communication and goals.

What’s the food like?

Depends on who’s cooking! Our home cooking menu consists of meat, wholesome dry foods, which we supplement with fresh vegetables and fruit, we even have a picnic day with cooking on the grill.

What do I have to buy to participate?

You’ll find pretty much everything you need in your closet at home. We will send a packing list of general items to bring and information on sundry items to purchase. A dress code will also be provided.

The weather information can be found on our website.

In the course of our history, we’ve answered our share of program questions. Below are a few of the most common questions we receive you don’t see your question, or if you would rather speak to us directly, please call any time at Phone: 313-445-6581 or 678-990-7999 .

Does the price of the program include my airfare?

The Camp Exposure tuition does not cover the cost to travel to and from the program or any in-country flights.

What about communication?

We understand the importance of communication and provide as much opportunity for students to touch base with home as we can. When traveling with us, a lot is learned through total immersion in the program and group activities. Personal phone calls can be disruptive to this process and, for this reason, we do not allow cell phones to be carried during program activities. They are available for use from time to time and alternative communication methods are as follows:

Online Updates:

Parents and friends can vicariously travel with us by following the trip updates that we post to our website. As often as possible we’ll post short log entries from each program written by the students. It is not possible to post these updates daily, and being at the mercy of someone else’s internet connection, it can sometimes take a week! We developed this system as a bonus for mom and dad and ask that all parents understand our limitations, supporting this system as an addition to—rather than an expectation—of the program.

Phone Calls:

Phone access varies. With a time difference of up to 12 hours it may be difficult for students to call during daylight hours.

Mail:

With mail taking up to one—three weeks to reach this is not a viable option.

E-Mail:

There are times when it is possible to send and receive an e-mail or two from an internet café. So e-mail contact
